At work, everybody calls me Tommy, and in a lot of ways I've grown to like it. People seem to expect less of me when I'm named Tommy, which is always nice, just in case I screw up (rarely, mind you, rarely). It's just more affectionate, I guess, and almost everybody at work is a friend, so I like it now.
Don't think this means just anybody can call me Tommy! That requires express written permission, from me. Verbal permission might count too, if you ask nicely enough.
